Which hotels in Cyprus have tennis courts?

Booking a tennis holiday in Cyprus is harder than it should be. Hotel websites bury their sports facilities three clicks deep, booking platforms list "tennis" as a tick box without saying how many courts there are or whether they have floodlights, and photos of an empty court tell you nothing about whether you will actually get on it in August.

This guide lists the hotels that publish tennis courts on their own websites, grouped by region, with what each one says about its facilities. Nothing here is scraped from a review site. If a hotel is missing, it is because we could not confirm the courts from the hotel itself, not because the courts do not exist.

Check these five things before you book

The gap between "the hotel has a tennis court" and "I played four good sets on holiday" is filled by the answers to these questions. Send them in one email to the hotel before you pay for anything.

• How many courts, and what surface? One court in a 400 room resort in July is a queue, not a facility. Hard courts play fast and are hard on the knees. Synthetic grass is gentler and slower. Clay is rare on the island and worth travelling for if you love it.
• Floodlights? This is the single most important question for a summer trip. Between June and September, tennis in Cyprus happens before 9am or after 6pm. A court without lights is a court you can use for two hours a day.
• Included or paid, and can non guests book? Some hotels give guests free court time, some charge by the hour, some open the courts to outside players when occupancy is low. All three are normal. Ask which one applies.
• Rackets and balls at reception? Flying with a racket is a nuisance. Several hotels lend equipment for free, which changes what you pack.
• Is there a coach, and is the court shared with an academy? A resident coach means you can get a hitting session even if you arrive alone. A court shared with a busy academy means your evening slot competes with a junior programme.

Paphos and the west

Aphrodite Hills Resort, Kouklia

The most serious tennis address on the island for a visiting player. The resort runs a dedicated Racket Club rather than a court parked behind the pool, with an academy on site and tennis holiday packages built around it. Coral Beach Hotel and Resort, Coral Bay

Four floodlit courts, two hard and two soft, with coaching available. That court count matters: four courts means you can usually get a slot in high season, and a mixed surface offer is unusual in Cyprus.

Athena Beach Hotel, Paphos

One floodlit court. Part of a family of Constantinou Bros properties in Paphos, so if you are booking in the group it is worth asking which of their hotels has court access for guests of the others.

Limassol

Four Seasons Hotel Limassol

A floodlit court plus padel, free for guests. One point of confusion worth clearing up: this is an independent Cypriot five star hotel, not part of the international Four Seasons chain. Same name, different company.

St Raphael Resort

Two synthetic grass courts with equipment rental, at the marina end of the city. Synthetic grass is a friendly surface for holiday tennis, slower than hard court and easier on the legs after a week of daily play.

Larnaca and the south

Aldiana Club Zypern, Alaminos

The outlier of this list and the best fit for a serious tennis week. A German all inclusive club, associated with the Cyprus Tennis Federation, with around ten clay courts and organised tennis camps. Clay in Cyprus is rare. If you want a European clay court week without leaving the sun, this is the address. Programmes and communication are mainly in German, English also works.

Golden Bay Beach Hotel, Larnaca

Courts are listed among the facilities of this five star Lordos property. Worth an email to confirm the number and whether they are lit before you count on evening play.

Protaras, Ayia Napa and the Famagusta area

Cavo Maris Beach Hotel, Protaras

Two floodlit hard courts, free for guests, with an instructor available on request. For a family resort, that is a genuinely usable tennis setup rather than a token court.

Crystal Springs Beach Hotel, Protaras

A renovated court with equipment available free at reception. Convenient if you are travelling light.

Nissi Beach Resort, Ayia Napa

Tennis appears in the facilities of this well known four star beachfront resort. As with any single court property in a busy area, ask about booking rules in high season.

The thing a hotel court cannot give you

An opponent.

You book the resort with the floodlit courts, you pack your racket, you arrive, and then you spend the week hitting against a wall or paying a coach to feed you balls, because the only other guest with a racket plays at a completely different level and you found that out twenty minutes into an awkward set.

Cyprus has an active local tennis population in every one of these regions. They play year round, they know which courts are good, and most of them are happy to hit with a visitor.
